The Groomsman Dilemma…..

So I am getting married in April, we have been planning for well over a year. We recently went shopping for suits, because we just now had time to finally get this done. My Fiancée and his best man finished picking suit colors and getting measured. They tried on suit styles, shoes, vests, and ties. Then he sent the code to the other groomsmen. They all responded with the “will do”, “there is only 5 minutes away” and so on, except for one… Guess which one? Yup, his older brother! He replied, “I can’t rent a suit. We just put a down payment on our cruise in May.”

Let me give some context… about a month ago, we decided to officially change the location for the wedding and notified everyone. We got some push back from his brother and his parents. They were concerned about the location change due to financial reasons. We understood but it worked out. His brother mentioned that he has been struggling a bit financially. He doesn’t think he will be capable of getting the suit rental. Now he has had almost a whole year to save $250 for a suit rental. He still has plenty of time to save enough money. Am I wrong to be upset? His brother is being selfish. He prefers to put a down payment on a cruise rather than rent a suit for his brother’s wedding. Mind you, he doesn’t have to pay for the Airbnb where he will be staying. He only needs to pay for the suit rental, food, and gas to get there. The suit rental is paid weeks in advance.

Am I Crazy here?
